A Universal Call to Conscience from the “Silence Is Complicity” Platform: “We Will Not Remain Silent in the Face of Oppression”
The “Silence Is Complicity” Platform held a press conference on December 19, 2025, at the Green Park Hotel in Bostancı, Istanbul. During the meeting, attention was drawn to serious human rights violations targeting civilians in various parts of the world, emphasizing that remaining silent in the face of such violations amounts to complicity. Platform representatives highlighted civilian casualties in conflict zones such as Palestine, Ukraine, and Sudan, calling on the public not to turn a blind eye and appealing to the universal conscience of humanity.
Speaking at the conference, Platform President Hayrettin Özaydın underlined that human dignity is a universal value and stressed that standing against oppression is a moral obligation. Özaydın stated that the platform is not guided by any political or ideological stance, but solely by the principles of human dignity and universal values. Platform Spokesperson Tuncay Işık then shared information about the platform’s founding process, ongoing awareness-raising activities, and national and international engagements, emphasizing the importance of collective action within civil society.
One of the main agenda items of the press conference was the call to designate January 29 as the “Day of Remembrance for the Palestinian Genocide.” In this context, it was emphasized that all child victims, particularly the young Palestinian girl Hind Rajab, should be commemorated. The conference continued with a question-and-answer session with members of the press, during which platform officials stated that they aim to continue their awareness efforts at both national and international levels and to deliver the message “Silence Is Complicity” to wider audiences.
